My childhood years were spent at Kettle Cove, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. There were lots of BBQ's, swimming and fishing with my big family and never a lack of love surrounded by all my aunts, uncles and cousins. I grew up in that town and Kettle Cove was - and continues to be - a large part of my life. My Mom and Dad still reside there...two coves over from Kettle Cove in Broad Cove and I still go to Kettle Cove every week to walk the beach. My family's connection to Portland, Maine began in the 1920's when my grandfather purchased a building on Free Street that he turned into a tailor shop. In the late 1970's my parents turned the place into a restaurant which I worked at and eventually took over in 1991. My all natural, mouth watering, Hick Lickin' Good Maine Apple Plum BBQ Sauce was perfected over years of taste testing with customers and friends at the restaurant.Ê It is great on all meats, poultry, fish and vegetables.Ê This vegetarian friendly sauce is gluten free and salt free with a touch of spice that pleasantly overwhelms the taste buds! Hick Lickin' Good Maine Maple Bourbon Grilling Sauce took us a long time to create - we just couldn't stop sampling our favorite ingredient! We think the wait was worth it and we hope you do too. Made from the finest ingredients, this sauce is great on anything you can grill - so let your imagination be your guide ! Hick Lickin' Good Apricot Ginger Teriyaki was developed from a fruit tree right here on our farm. Our love for apricots was the motivation behind this masterpiece. One night it came to us while cooking a homemade stir-fry...wha-la! After months of sampling different versions we had finally crafted this marinade to perfection. It's taste will amaze your tastebuds and turn anything you want to marinade into a delightful meal. While reflecting back on my traveling days in the late 70's-early 80's, I use to frequent such tropical places as Jamaica and the Caribbean. Fresh mango was served every morning on the beach for breakfast as the sun streamed down. I created Hick Lickin' Good Mango Chipolte BBQ Sauce - a blend of spicy chipolte peppers with the sweet mango to remind me of those lazy days lounging by the bamboo huts while basking in the hot sun. I hope you will enjoy this unique blend of a sometimes forgotten fruit that has such succulent flavor with a kick of hot spice to enhance the taste buds. Maybe it will take you away to the islands! YA MAN! Enjoy! It takes a lickin' and keeps on stickin'!!! |
